7-Inch iPad Design a Done Deal?AppleInsider.com is citing a rumor from a Chinese production plant that Apple has created a new 7-inch iPad, supposedly that is more like the iPhone 4.

From the report:

“Yes there will be a (7-inch) tablet, yes it’s well underway in terms of product development and in fact it’s a finished product,”

“Yes 5 plus different designs have been floating around to help Apple protect itself from people discovering its next product look and feel but… the final design will in fact bear more resemblance to the iPhone 4 stylings than the original iPad design.”

Rumors of the new, smaller “mini” iPad have been floating around for awhile now. The smaller iPad version may be a move by Apple to compete with other ereader type devices such as the Kindle. A lower price than its bigger brother would certainly make it more appealing to consumers.

ABC’s new TV show My Generation debuted tonight and teamed up with Nielsen to provide a live social interactive experiment via a first-of-its-kind app on the iPad which seems to have been a success.

My Generation Sync iPad App in Action

As soon as the program began on the television, one click on the iPad app synced the two together, followed by a confirmation. As the show began to highlight the participants of the faux-documentary, the first poll appeared in the iPad app: “What were you like in high school?” Options ranged from the Rock Star, The Jock, The Wallflower, The Punk and others. Shortly after, the results were shown with “The Nerd” winning out with 22%.

As characters were highlighted, short bios for each one appeared in the app. Other polls followed, one asking opinions on the 2000 US presidential election where a tie breaker was decided by the Supreme Court.

iPad Soon To Be Offered In More StoresSoon the Apple iPad will be available to many more potential consumers. Starting next week, Best Buy will be selling the iPad in all of its 1,093 stores in America. Best Buy previously only sold the device in their stores that offered an Apple shop inside.

Tech Data Corporation, a major Apple distributor selling products such as Macs, iPods, and Apple TV, is now allowed to sell all 6 model types of iPad to authorized resellers for the first time. Apple has been very strict in who receives permission to sell the iPad, only allowing sales over the phone, or in-store in Best Buy’s case, and not online. That remains the case to this day even though sales are likely to expand to other retail outlets in the coming weeks and months.

Target is rumored to be selling the iPad in as little as a few weeks, while WalMart is looking to offer the Apple device by the end of this year.

Walt Mossberg Takes Trip to Paris Sans Laptop, avec iPadTechnology journalist Walt Mossberg took a “working” vacation to Paris last month and purposefully left his laptop at home. He used his iPad to perform business related tasks. By his own account, the experiment was a success, the Wall Street Journal columnist was able to perform his work duties without a laptop, on the iPad.

Mossberg was able to keep up with emails, work with documents, watch videos, and using the SugarSync app, he easily accessed a file on his home computer from across the Atlantic ocean. Other productivity and editing apps were used such as GoodReader, Documents To Go, and Quick Office.

The iPad Is The Mac For The Masses And It Will Keep Selling Well

Editor’s note: This article was reposted from businessinsider.com.

Apple’s iPad is the first "Mac for the masses," and it will sell 21 million units next year, says Apple bull Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray in a note this morning.

His estimate of 21 million iPads for 2011 is up from his previous estimate of 14.5 million. He’s also raising his price target on the stock to $390, up from $371.

Is it possible 21 million is low? After all, Apple sold 1 million per month in the first three months when it was only in the U.S.

The street is calling for between 15 million and 25 million sold next year, says Munster.

Munster calls it a "Mac for the masses," because it is basically the first affordable Mac computer for people that couldn’t buy Macs in the past.

Here’s the three reasons Gene raised his iPad estimates:
