It looks like notebooks and netbooks aren’t the only devices feeling the pressure from iPad’s popularity. According Shaw Wu from Kaufman Bros., the availability of iPad is better than expected and that some people are opting for Apple’s new device rather than low-end MacBooks.
Wu expects the sale of iPads will trump the Mac. His forecast calls for Apple to sell 5.7 million iPads in the September quarter. This figure is stunningly up from his previous estimate of 3.6 million. Mac sales are to be slightly reduced to 3.8 million from 3.9 as earlier predicted.
Strong sales of iPads and its cut into sales of notebooks by as much as 25% was reported by Morgan Stanley last week. The decline in notebook sales has been seen ever since the iPad was announced in January 2010.
Apple’s 12 month price target has increased to $374 per share from $350 as indicated by Kaufman Bros. AAPL stock estimates.
