iPads are turning up everywhere and if you have one, you know how much kids want to play with them. By downloading kid-friendly iPad apps, keep your children entertained as they learn with your cool iPad. You’ll find any of these apps by searching by application name in the iTunes store. These apps range in price from free to $4.99, and some offer a free trial version so you can try before you buy.
PegLight for iPad – This app is like the old Lite Brite toy where kids create pictures and shapes using pegs inserted into a black background. This encourages creativity, but it requires patience, so it generally works better for older children. Recommended for ages 4 and up.
Skee-Ball – This game emulates the popular arcade and fair game and works better on the iPad than it does on the iPhone because there’s more room to move your fingers. For ages 4 and up.
Sneezies HD – Children free pompoms imprisoned in bubbles by spreading sneeze powders. This makes the pompoms sneeze, breaking the bubbles and scoring points. This app is for ages 4 and up.
WeetWoo – Here’s a good app for smaller children beginning with a recommended age of 2. Weet Woo serves up kid-friendly videos that youngsters can easily browse to find hours of entertainment that is both fun and educational.

The iPad may be the device of the rich, but no matter what your socioeconomic status, it’s never fun to shell out for an app and end up disappointed in your purchase. Considering that the iPhone’s strong gaming heritage has carried over to Apple’s tablet device, the danger of picking up a sub-par paid title is arguably high.
With iPad app counterparts running significantly higher in cost than their tinier mobile cousins, it’s more useful than ever to be able to separate the wheat from the chaff. We went hands-on with a number of popular paid titles in the Games category of the App Store to cull the following list for you, which represents some of the best that the still-early days of iPad gaming has to offer.
Still, there are sure to be great paid iPad games we’ve missed in this list, so please do share your favorites in the comments.
1. Civilization Revolution
If you’ve played any version of Sid Meier’s award-winning Civilization franchise, you’ll be instantly familiar with the iPad app. It compares very favorably with the versions of Civilization Revolution that brought the original PC strategy series to consoles, and will have a very small learning curve for anyone who has played the title on other platforms.
If you’re not already familiar with the franchise, it may be easier to think of Civilization as a modern-day version of Risk, in which you choose a historical figure to lead your civilization in a turn-based scaled progression of time. As you turn your tiny village into a thriving metropolis, animated advisers help guide you through the finer points of diplomacy with your adversaries and scientific advancement through research. Unlike Risk, however, there is more than one path to victory — in addition to world domination, you can also win a match by technological advancement, cultural growth, or economic achievement.
Several difficulty levels allow you to scale up as you master the various aspects of the game. If you’re already a fan of Civilization or the strategy and management genre in general, our only caveat is the many hours you may lose to this $12.99 title.
Get it: Civilization Revolution for $12.99

In a balky economy with limited opportunities for people to spend discretionary income on electronics, it’s not surprising that a purchase of one device — an iPad, for example — might keep a person from purchasing an e-reader device like an Amazon Kindle or a portable game console.
A report recently published by Resolve Market Research and shared by Mashable is showing that the market is responding in exactly that manner. A full 49% of survey respondents answered that they would not by an e-reader after purchasing an iPad, followed closely by 38% saying that they would forgo the purchase of a portable game console if they bought an iPad. The iPhone has already had an impact on sales of gaming consoles, and the upcoming deployment of iOS4 on iPad as well as the advent of Apple’s Game Center may prove to
The Resolve study also shows that for 37% of respondents, the iPad would be their first Apple product. For many people, the iPhone was a gateway product that resulted in future purchases of other Apple products, so there’s a possibility that the iPad could also create the same halo effect.

The iPad is a great gaming system by most accounts with tons of apps already available to let the owner play all the games they want. There are also a lot of options for hacking the iPad to play emulators for old school games as well.
A four-step process will turn your iPad into a SNES emulator complete with support for control via the iPhone or iPod touch or a Wii Remote. The process first requires the iPad to be jailbroken. The emulator used is called snes4iphone, though others are available.

30 Must Have Games for the iPhone and iPod touch. That garnered your attention and plenty of comments, so we’re happy to present its natural sequel, 15 Must Have Games for the iPad.
As with the first feature, let us underscore that we do not consider this to be a list of the best games for the iPad, or superlative games in any specific category. Instead, this is a collection of games vetted by The Loop as being fun to play and standouts for one reason or another. So please don’t take umbrage if you don’t see your favorite game listed. But by all means use the comment section below to share with other readers your thoughts on this list and any other iPad games you think are excellent.
Flight Control HD
Firemint wasted no time, hitting launch day for the iPad with a release of Flight Control HD, an updated version of its eminently popular iPhone air traffic control game. You rack up points by safely landing a variety of airplanes and helicopters onto their runways and landing pads. If any of them collide, the game is over. Firemint did more than just scale up the graphics to work on the iPad, however – Flight Control HD also adds new maps and a fun, quirky “3D” mode that provides the illusion of depth if you wear a pair of red/blue “anaglyph” glasses (not included, of course, but available in online, novelty shops and elsewhere).
Warpgate HD
Freeverse had been working on its ambitious action/RPG game Warpgate initially as an iPhone game, but the iPad caused them to pause the iPhone version and rework it initially as an iPad release. Envisioned as a touch-based variant on Elite or as a latter-day Escape Velocity for you Mac game enthusiasts, Warpgate puts you in the pilot’s chair of an interstellar spacecraft as you seek your fortune. You can deliver cargo, become a pirate, participate in missions that move a storyline along and more. The game’s graphics are exquisite, its scale is immense – three dozen star systems, each chock-full of planets and space stations to interact with, tons of different starships to control and lots more.
