NFL could replace play books with iPadsCNET is reporting that the NFL is considering replacing bulky coach’s play books with iPads. For now, the Dallas Cowboys and "a couple" other teams are mulling over the switch, would could save them "…up to 5,000 pages of paper printouts per game."

Besides the cost (and environmental) benefits of eliminating all that paper, a networked iPad would give coaches and players access to data in whole new ways. Imagine scrolling through clearly-presented plays, some complete with animation. Or real-time communication with coordinators in the booth. Plus, all of those photos of the field that are printed on the sideline could be pushed to an iPad seconds after the play was complete, in full color. Heck, push video.

Also, a lost iPad could be remotely wiped. The same can’t be said for a lost play book.

Another added benefit: they’ll just look cool with a big logo Gelaskin on the back.

ThinkGeek's iCade gaming cabinet for iPad moves closer to realitySince 2001, ThinkGeek has been compiling gag products for April Fool’s Day. Some products are silly, some outrageous, and some are conceptually cool and show promise as a real product. The iCade gaming cabinet, one star of April Fool’s 2010, falls into this latter category. The iCade is a retro gaming cabinet that hearkens back to the 80s and its arcade gaming craze. The table-top unit lets you mount your iPad as the display, while the cabinet itself includes a joystick, arcade buttons and Bluetooth to connect to your iPad.

After a few copycat versions hit the scene, ThinkGeek realized there is genuine interest in such a product and is working with Atari and ION to bring this concept to fruition. Atari is planning to release iCade-friendly versions of its classic arcade games, like Asteroids. These games will run on the iPad, and the action will be controlled by the BT-connected joystick and gaming buttons. An API will also be released so that current game developers can create iCade-compatible versions of their games.

Here’s a fun Halloween game younger children will enjoy on the iPad. Treat Street is probably best suited for younger kids not so accustomed to the trick-or-treat tradition of venturing outside on Halloween and going door to door asking for candy.

Treat Street: Halloween iPad App For Kids

The game begins by choosing your costume. By clicking on the head, torso, and feet of your character, you’re able to mix and match different styles of costumes.

Next you move on to Treat Street where your character is walked along the sidewalk by touching the screen. Touch a house and you’re taken to the front door where you can knock and/or ring the doorbell. Within a few seconds the door opens and you’re given candy that is automatically deposited into your bag.

While walking down the street there are different characters like pumpkins, crows, owls, cats and light posts. Touching any of these produces a sound that should keep children interested if the promise of digital candy doesn’t do it for them.

A Japanese news magazine show, Mezamashi TV, recently highlighted a new iPad app created by Double Crane and NeuroSky that is sure to delete geeks everywhere, well at least geeks in Japan for now.

Brain Waves Control iPad Kissing Game App

The app uses brain waves sent via a headband worn by the user to control the game. The object? Get a virtual kiss from an attractive woman by focusing your attention on her. The catch is you can only see her from the back, but there are 5 candidates to choose from. The user concentrates on one of the beauties until she turns around. If they relax their brain at that point, she blows them a kiss.

Here’s the only video that has surfaced of the app in action(sorry, no iPad support yet):

Focus your attention on a woman and relax to get a kiss? Seems like that works in the real world too.
