Consumer Reports tested out Apple’s hot new tablet and found that it gets much hotter than the iPad 2 when running games, particularly Infinity Blade. With a lot of system resources being used for high quality games, the new iPad can heat up to 116 degrees.
Consumer Reports also noted that the new iPad would not fully charge when Infinity Blade was being played and the battery actually drained slightly. Maybe this is something that can be fixed in the new iOS update.
“The new iPad delivers a stunning Retina display, A5X chip, support for 4G LTE plus 10 hours of battery life, all while operating well within our thermal specifications,” Apple representative Trudy Muller, told The Loop. “If customers have any concerns they should contact AppleCare.”

Apple stores, Best Buy, Walmart and other supply chains began selling the new iPad today as early as 12:01am. Lines have been forming over the past few days at some locations and the 3rd generation iPad is expected to sell out at some stores.
Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak was seen at the Century City, CA Apple store waiting in line. He wanted to be “genuine, like the real people.”
The team at iFixit have taken apart the new iPad to see all the goodies inside. As expected, they’ve found components manufactured by Samsung, Qualcomm and Toshiba.

The folks at Tinhte.vn are also reporting some new iPad 3 benchmarks from the Geekbench app show the next-generation iPad to have a 1 GHz application processor and 1 GB of RAM.
AT&T officially announced they will be offering the new iPad with WiFi + 4G on March 16. Verizon has made a similar announcement as well.
“It goes without saying that the screen on the device is absolutely stunning — while we haven’t had a chance to look through every possible app on the new iPad, the retooled stock applications and icons really do pop on the Retina Display.”
