And article in the Korean Times suggest Apple may choose an LCD display from Samsung for the iPad 2.
According to sources, the company, established in January 2009, is in the final stage of talks on supplying its latest LCD panels for Apple’s iPad 2, which is expected to be released later this year.
But the article went on to say a spokesman for Samsung and representative from Apple Korea had no comments on the rumors of the new display types.
Also mentioned in the article was the possible use of Samsung’s Super Plane to Line Switching (PLS) technology being used in future iPad versions, a new type of display that was recently made public late last year.
The PLS display would offer better viewing angles over the current IPS display screens in the iPad. Being slightly brighter and cheaper to produce, this may be the direction Apple wants to go in order to compete with the emergence of new tablets from its competitors.
