There have been a lot of rumors in recent months for some kind of iPad 3 to be launched toward the end of 2011. Some thought it would be a 6 inch, 7 inch, or 10 inch tablet, or one with more features but keeping the original display size intact.
But one sentence from Wednesday’s keynote speaker, Steve Jobs, may have put all of those rumors to rest – “We think 2011 is clearly going to be the year of iPad 2.”
It’s unlikely Jobs would have made such a definitive statement if Apple had any thought of putting out the iPad 3 in 2011. So for now, even though rumors have been swirling around for months, it seems the iPad 3 will not be seen in 2011.
If that’s the case, it’s almost certain the next generation iPad will be launched in early 2012. Likely additions could be Retina Display, Thunderbolt technology, increased storage, or more powerful cameras.

Wow. So many assumptions made in this article…What if the mini-pad is and Ipad 2 also? What if this Ipad 3 launches just before Christmas? That would firmly put it in fiscal year 2012.
