When the Apple Store went down yesterday evening there was quite a buzz that something big might be coming. People who were hoping that all of the sudden the iPhone 5 would be showing up on the store registry were probably disappointed but there were some decent changes made in the overall presentation of the store. Some of these changes should make it quite a bit easier to shop in the store and know exactly what you are getting and when. When buying the iPad in particular there are some welcomed tweaks in the ordering process.
When clicking on the “Buy Now” button on the store you are now transported to a better purchasing page where you can select the color, model and carrier for your iPad should you choose to go with the 3G model. Apple has long had the old standby of “Ships in 24 hours” but that has now been replaced with “In Stock.” This particular “In Stock” seems to have also replaced “Ships in 1-3 days” as well, though there are still some products that still have “Ships in 2-4 days.”
The Apple store seems to have also updated some of the currencies they are able to offer up, perhaps courting a more international audience. Though it appears that the update may not be completely over as the updating on the iPad “Buy Now” page is only available in the US and UK stores. With all the rumors floating around about the iPad 3 and the iPhone 5 one has to wonder whether Apple chose to take down the store just to see who would notice.
