Best Buy was found to be preparing for an iPad 2 promotion last week after rumors of a rift between the retail chain and Apple turned out to be much ado about nothing. Some had originally thought Best Buy was purposefully holding back on their iPad 2 inventory and only selling their quota for each day. There was also talk that Apple got wind of this news and was not too happy about it. But the situation has been cleared up now and all is well between Apple and Best Buy. It turns out Best Buy was just gearing up for a nationwide iPad 2 promotion for today, Sunday, April 17.

Strong rumors suggested recently that Toys R’ Us was preparing to sell iPad 2 and was conducting training sessions with employees. Those rumors have turned out to be true as Toys R’ Us is starting to sell iPad 2 today. View stores participating in sales here.

AT&T Now Shipping iPad 2 Within 10 to 15 Business Days

If you’re looking to buy iPad 2 online, and want to receive it sooner rather than later, your best bet right now is to purchase it from AT&T through att.com. This is the quickest shipping time we’ve seen since iPad 2 first launch on March 11.

Only the 16GB 3G and 32GB 3G models are currently available online through AT&T, and a service contract is required. Check back often as the 64GB model sometimes is available, but quickly sells out.

As of last week, AT&T’s online shipping waiting period for iPad 2 was 20-25 business days.

It appears Apple and its iPad 2 suppliers are being able to meet the high demand more as manufacturers ramp up production. Just last week, Apple lessened its shipping time from 3-4 weeks to 2-3 weeks.

If you’d rather get your new iPad 2 in a store close to you, check out our “Buy iPad 2” page with information on retail outlets selling the new Apple tablet and links for real-time inventory checks for some of those stores.

iPad Touch Panel Makers Further Quash Any iPad 3 Launch Rumors for 2011

DigiTimes reported yesterday on some news from component makers for iPad. Touch panel manufacturers suggest an upgrade from iPad 2 to iPad 3 is unlikely for this year as the higher resolution technology for Apple’s tablet is “still at the initial planning stage.” But there is also mention of a different communication format possibly coming with the next iPad version.

As for the iPad 3 rumor, the sources from upstream component makers pointed out that the new rumored device should be an upgrade version of iPad 2 or an iPad 2 version that supports different communication format. Since Apple just released its iPad 2 in early March and is ready to start mass shipping, launching the iPad 3 would simply bite off share from its iPad 2.

DigiTimes also notes its sources have not received any direction regarding iPad 3 components and that with iPad 2’s strong demand, iPad 3 won’t be available anytime soon.

It’s becoming more apparent that iPad 3 will launch around the yearly release schedule of the first-generation and iPad 2 launches, within the 1st quarter of 2012. iPad 1 was launched in the US on April 3, 2010, iPad 2 was launched on March 11, 2011.

Three New Photoshop Apps for iPad

In the Color Lava app, users can easily mix different colors with their fingertips to create new swatches which can then be used in Photoshop.

Artists and painters will enjoy the Eazel app for iPad. A new type of “wet’ and “dry paints will allow users to create realistic paintings and artwork by taking advantage of iPad’s multi-touch screen using their fingers or a stylus.

The Nav app for iPad serves more as a utility function, letting the user select and control Photoshop tools, customize the toolbar, create new files or zoom in on open Photoshop files.
