Here’s a fun Halloween game younger children will enjoy on the iPad. Treat Street is probably best suited for younger kids not so accustomed to the trick-or-treat tradition of venturing outside on Halloween and going door to door asking for candy.

Treat Street: Halloween iPad App For Kids

The game begins by choosing your costume. By clicking on the head, torso, and feet of your character, you’re able to mix and match different styles of costumes.

Next you move on to Treat Street where your character is walked along the sidewalk by touching the screen. Touch a house and you’re taken to the front door where you can knock and/or ring the doorbell. Within a few seconds the door opens and you’re given candy that is automatically deposited into your bag.

While walking down the street there are different characters like pumpkins, crows, owls, cats and light posts. Touching any of these produces a sound that should keep children interested if the promise of digital candy doesn’t do it for them.

Steve Jobs Immortalized on Leather iPad Case

Ron Norris sent us this picture of his fine work, a leather iPad case adorned with an image of Steve Jobs. The Apple CEO’s likeness was created with thousands of needle pricks on wet leather.

Editor’s note: This article was reposted from huffingtonpost.com.

My Daughter Emma, Autism, and Her iPadIn anticipation of the arrival of my eight-year old, autistic daughter, Emma’s iPad, an early Christmas gift from my mother, I began looking for apps, which I thought Emma might like. I bought a number of them to test on my iPad.

So I wasn’t surprised when Emma appeared at my side carrying my iPad the other night. “Mommy go to bed?” she asked.

“Do you want to sit in my bed with me, Em?” I asked.

“Yes. You have to ask Mommy. Mommy come to your bed with you?” She pulled on the sleeve of my robe. “Mommy can you come to my bed sit with you?”

“Yes. But you say — Mommy, can you come with me?” I said standing up.

“Mommy can I come with me,” Emma said, struggling with the ever elusive proper use of pronouns so commonly seen in autistic children.

“Okay. Come on! Let’s go.” I said taking Emma’s hand.

There are a number of apps Emma likes: Learning Touch First Words is a huge hit, as is iWriteWords and Sound Shaker. We’ve just begun exploring Montessori Crosswords. Draw has not captured her attention yet, though I love it, but the iPad app, which is her favorite is: Interactive Alphabet — ABC Flash Cards. She loves the music that plays as she taps on different letters, each letter coming to life as she touches it.

“E. E IS FOR EGG,” the female voice said, when Emma tapped on the egg. She tapped again and watched it cracked open, a raw egg splatted down next to the first one.

“Hey Em,” I said, “What letter is that?” I asked pointing to the E. Emma said nothing and tapped on the A.
