Apple’s iPad doesn’t technically offer the ability to make phone calls, but New York-based voice over IP phone system provider M5 Networks has figured out a way to offer clients the capability through an app.

M5 offers mid-sized businesses and organizations including Amnesty International and Etsy the ability to manage work calls through the “cloud” — the tech term for the Internet — so employees can make and receive phone calls from anywhere in the world from any Internet-connected device, including cell phones and computers, as if they were going through their office line. Clients can also start a phone call on one device and seamlessly transfer it to another device mid-call.

Late last month, it added the ability to make and take calls through iPads. The app is still in the testing phase, but M5 Chief Executive Dan Hoffman says that it gives its clients yet another option for fielding their phone calls.

“The clearest reason (to take a call on an iPad) is the advantage of running this app on a Wi-Fi connection,” says Mr. Hoffman, adding that the iPad also has a better speaker microphone.

There’s yet another way to stream movies on your iPad now, with the latest release of mSpot’s Movies app for Apple mobile devices today.

Last month, mSpot rolled out its initial Movies app for the iPhone last month, and while that one was iPad-compatible, this new app is dedicated specifically to the 9-inch Apple tablet. That brings mSpot’s streaming coverage to the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Macs, and PCs.

Stockbriefings.com is reporting that Walmart Senior VP Gary Severson anticipates the giant retailer to be selling the iPad by year’s end. Considering there’s probably a Walmart within a 5 mile square radius of every American, that would mean a wider audience of potential iPad owners and users. Not wanting to be late to the game of selling savvy tech devices, Walmart is trying to compete with other tech retailers like Best Buy.

On Friday, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE:WMT) stocks closed at 49.43.

I love my iPad 3G, almost unnecessarily so. I use it as my primary computer for a multitude of tasks. The only thing that I dislike about my iPad is that I have to pay AT&T even more money to use their data network, even though I’m already paying for it with my new iPhone 4.

We have covered in the past how to manage your 3G data with your iPad using the Apple/AT&T-sanctioned methods built in to the device itself. Today, we want to show you how you can swap Micro-SIMs to make use of your iPhone’s unlimited data plan with your iPad.

Note: This is not an officially sanctioned technique and you do this at your own risk! If AT&T comes down on your SIM-swapping antics with the force of a truckload of anvils… you are on your own, brother.

That said, let’s proceed.
